North Beach has a long history of providing a learning environment that promotes exceptional pastoral care. The school also has an excellent reputation for being a very people friendly school. North Beach has an enrolment of approximately 360 students and is located in the northern suburbs. It serves a coastal strip and includes the suburbs of Trigg, Waterman and North Beach. The school is nestled between large playing fields to the south and Star Swamp Reserve to the north. The school also has its own area of bushland adjoining Star Swamp which is used in its teaching programs.

With its proximity to Star Swamp sustainability and environmental studies are highly regarded in the community. Environmental activities include a plant nursery and the involvement of senior students in tree planting in rural areas. Students supported by dedicated volunteers also run a vegetable garden called ‘The Patch’ which teaches the children sustainability, crop rotation and cooperation.

The specialist areas are music, physical education, visual arts and French. There are additional opportunities for music by either joining the choir or learning the ukulele. The Instrumental Music Program provides the opportunity for selected students to learn clarinet, cello, violin and viola. A variety of sports are played and there is an emphasis on participation in daily fitness activities. A leadership program is provided for Year 6 students to develop their skills. The staff is focused on teaching values and virtues. We target the keys to success through the You Can Do It strategy. There is a strong focus on global citizenship including the sponsorship of a school in Laos, a child in Peru and the first school in Australia to be a part of the United Nations Australia Association Global Citizenship project.

The buildings are of linear construction. Additions to the school grounds include a library and arts centre and new playgrounds. All classrooms are air conditioned. Classrooms and specialist areas are networked to give access to the Internet. The school has an app and web page which enables effective communication.

North Beach Primary School is known for the excellent relationships which exist between the school, parents and local community. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the learning program in classrooms, the Parents & Citizens’ Association and the School Board.
